About

My name is Eleanor, and I’m an experienced Assistant Editor with over six years in the industry, working across both feature films and episodic television. My credits include Afterburn starring Samuel L. Jackson, Snow White, The Buccaneers, Slow Horses with Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas, Temple, and Roadkill — with projects spanning major networks such as Disney, Apple TV+, HBO, BBC, and ITV.

I’m deeply passionate about supporting others and uplifting the role of the Assistant Editor and have recently produced The Assistant Editor’s Toolkit and Skills Checklists for the Editorial Department - groundbreaking and innovative resources that British Film Editors, ScreenSkills, and Bectu have recognised. I was also thrilled to have been featured in the British Film Editors magazine and selected to review applications for Screen Skills Trainee Finder.

I regularly speak at organisations and universities, including ScreenSkills, Bectu, Cambridge University, Solent University, and Elstree Screen Arts, giving talks such as “What is an Assistant Editor?” and “Breaking into Post Production.” I also advocate for a healthier, fairer, and accessible industry through my role as Secretary of The Rough Assembly.

Before I took my first steps into the industry, I had no roadmap, no guidance, no connections or formal schooling and didn't know where to start, let alone how to 'break in'. Finding information online was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. As I found my footing, I began writing what I learned on my blog, leaving breadcrumbs for those coming up behind me.

Whether you're a student googling "how to become an Editor" for the first time, a Post Production Runner looking to break into scripted, an Edit Trainee learning new skills, or a 2nd Assistant Editor looking for your next job - I have been there and I have got your back.

Check out my resources, and if you’d like more guidance or exclusive training on topics including assistant editing, dailies, networking, freelancing, career pathways, applications and interviews, you can book a training class or mentoring session with me, which have had glowing reviews, including the selection below.

Testimonials

As a Post Production graduate, Eleanor completely understood what I was going through with my job search after university and helped me shape my CV to be more appealing to employers.

Her feedback helped me stand out amongst other applicants and got me jobs working on South Today and Strictly Come Dancing, where I’ve made some excellent contacts and gained a deeper insight into the industry.
